Steve and HOOF went to Westminster on Tuesday 28th January to meet with the Shadow Environment team to discuss the Government plans for sell of parts of the Forest of Dean to private developers. The Group formed in 2010 to fight Government proposals to sell of rural Forests in the UK to private developers has gained widespread support.
Steve Parry-Hearn said:
“It is fundamentally clear to me that any parliamentary representative for The Forest of Dean should have the Forests itself, centre to everything they do. The areas natural beauty is what makes the Forest unique and something to be proud of. That is why I will oppose any future plans to sell of our forest. This is of paramount importance to what I stand for.”
“Be under no illusion that I have always supported HOOF, as have the WHOLE Labour Party in the Forest of Dean, whether it has been reported or not.”
“The Government is out of touch, out of ideas and out of steam! The Infrastructure Bill is a an exercise to make the Government look busy. I demand more. The people of the Forest of Dean deserve legislation that will protect the Forest in perpetuity for our descendants. As their MP, I would fight tooth and nail to achieve it for them”.
